“The Beach Hut” is a lovely story barely 8 pages long focusing around a certain hot, summer night and a passion long-gone yet still deeply etched in the memory of our hero, Adam. And as it happens that certain smells, tastes or sounds can bring back sudden flashes of our past, here the successful sell off an old family beach hut triggers the avalanche of pictures of an unknown girl who after one night of unforgettable passion left without a trace leaving behind a fleeting fragrance and unanswered questions.
The story has a very dreamlike, melancholic tone, beautifully painting the young passion with all its awkwardness, innocence and expectations. Reading this story actually triggered some of my own memories of long summers and simpler times. A truly beguiling if somewhat short read.
